Room with a View

I have two really great friends who both happen to have the name Jana. If that is not confusing enough, they are both geniuses, both like to run, and they are both currently writing their dissertations. I'll write about Jana Rae in a later post. This post is about my friend Janalee who is writing her dissertation in art history. Not only did she do a stint for a year at the Getty, she also spent last semester in Paris doing research and now she is back here to finish up. She received a grant for the summer which provided her an office in this cute little house right next to the library so that she could write, write, write and a little bit of money so that she could eat every other day or so. Anyway, on one of our first days of summer, knowing that what every grad student truly wants is a visit from a frazzled housewife with three unruly children, we decided to oblige her and stop by for a visit. We took the full tour, complete with bathroom breaks for the aforementioned children and left before the aforementioned housewife had a nervous breakdown. We are lucky to have such a hospitable friend who is so smart and lovely.
